Personality
[Quiet] l [Intellectual] l [Socially Awkward / Foreign] l [Simple] l [Protective] l [Loyal]

[Quiet]: A generally silent tom, although he isn't decidedly secretive or anything; it's more or less that he doesn't often have any thoughts to lend to a conversation, so he more often than not just sort of sits back until his presence isn't needed anymore. This also plays into the fact that he's a cat of action, not of words; if he honestly thinks that you need to be kicked, he won't warn anyone before solidly planting his foot in your side.

[Intellectual]: Not exactly the smartest cat ever, but he strives to think scholarly things, and often gets bogged down in thought when it's inconvenient or otherwise (but especially when it's inconvenient). He has been known to spend several minutes at a time simply thinking things over, considering things, piecing things together... When this does happen, he tries to be considerate about it, however, and apologizes if his thoughts interrupted his attention to someone else.

[Socially-Awkward / Foreign]: As he didn't really spend most of his life as a warrior, he often runs into situations in clan-life that he'd been previously sheltered from, especially in social standards. For instance, when prey gets brought back to the clan's territory, he chooses to eat the very last because he's afraid he'll accidentally eat before it's his turn; he also has lived most of his life as a solitary animal, and has much to learn about the ways of others (such as love, friendship, aggression, etc).

[Simple]: Houndpitch isn't by any means a complicated soul. Small things have been known to make him happy, such as a successful hunt or a small, offhand compliment given to him; adversely, his emotions are very easily read. If he's happy, he has no qualms purring or smiling...if he's upset or angry, he'll very passively let you know.

[Protective]: He would rather die than allow harm to befall his fellow cats, especially his leader, Redstar. He's also this way with she-cats, doubly so when he likes them or recognizes them as a close friend; mess with them and he'll make sure you're bleeding from your nose for the next month.

[Loyal]: He may have began life as a "kittypet", but now, not even the greatest storm or harshest beast could rip his soul from his clan.

History

Houndpitch was born under a human's roof, one of a litter of three and bestowed the name of 'Daud'. His small family, consisting of his mother and his siblings, lived below-deck of a fishing skif, in a small nook that not many people knew about; it was a good enough existence, with more than enough to eat from stolen fish and ship rats that would scurry past. As was to be expected from the life aboard a shaky, damp boat, though, one by one his brothers and sister were lost to life at sea; soon enough, it was just Daud and his mother, fending for themselves. Despite the hardship, however, he and his mother were content.

Daud was reaching the halfpoint of his second year when the storm hit. He was sleeping alongside his mother when, suddenly, he heard the fishermen yelling above-deck, felt the boat creaking beneath his paws. He only heard the storm's pelting rain for mere minutes before the boat's wood splintered, suffering from massive structural damage from the waves; Daud, his mother, and every man on-board were sent crashing into the ocean's salty waves. He himself managed to latch onto a floating board, but as he blinked the salt from his eyes and searched the icy depths for his mother, no trace could be found...he must had been searching for hours before the cold of the wind finally took him, and he fell on the board unconscious, left adrift on the unrelenting sea.

But fortune smiled on him that dreary day, for when he awakened, the sickening roll of the tide wasn't what was holding his weight. Sand lay below him, and the sun shone on his freezing brown pelt, making his pupils painfully contract with its intensity. Driven only by his determination to live, Daud pulled himself to his paws and moved further down the beach, weak from hunger and sickness from swallowing so much seawater. What must have been an hour or two later, the tom finally reached civilization; a small clan of wildcats who called themselves 'Skyclan'. He spoke with them, and secured at least a place to stay warm and dry until he could struggle past his sickness; however, even after the illness passed, Daud slowly began integrating to the warriors' society. They gave him a name, "Houndpitch", seemingly labeling the distinctly low voice the cold weather and sickness had given him. He now lives as a warrior himself, learning more and more of this new world with each passing day.

Interesting Houndpitch Factoids
:bulletorange: He's deathly afraid of water, presumably because of the storm at sea.

:bulletorange: As stated, he was named Houndpitch because of his low voice; furthermore, when he purrs or growls, it sounds more like the growling of a dog than that of a cat. He's somewhat self-conscious of this, but he doesn't let it hold him back.
