I was just on a very popular artist's page, and when I started reading through the first few comments left for them, I wasn't surprised when all of it was stuff saying how amazing the artist's stuff is... It was just your run-of-the-mill collection of comments saying stuff like "I really love your art" and "I wish I was just like you"; but one comment in particular kind of struck out at me:

"A long time ago I discovered your art. It was so beautifully rendered and imagined I fell in love. Now this new work you're creating is even more lovely. The ideas and creations you come up with are otherworldly and very beautiful. It's almost romantic in its quality. I never post these kinds of things but I felt compelled to let you know that I'm a fan and I encourage you to keep creating your inspiring art. And, of course, thank you for making this world more interesting."

I know what you're thinking. Wow, what a beautifully written comment, I wish I could get something that nice on my page...but then the last sentence, again, for some reason, really resonated with me.

"And, of course, thank you for making this world more interesting."

SAY WHAT.

I mean, yes, it's true - the artist's stuff is really amazing, and their art does make the world more interesting...but WHY ISN'T EVERYONE GETTING A COMMENT LIKE THIS?

Take anyone on DeviantART, and I can guarantee that they deserve the exact same thing to be said of them. Sure, there are people who don't draw very well, and of course there are going to be people that look like their art was drawn by a squirrel freaking out over a bad acid trip...but you don't need to be an amazing artist to be told this. If you're an honest, hard-working artist at all, this comment needs to be on your page too...that goes for all of you reading this, as well as all of the people who aren't reading it.

So please, here's your challenge for the day... Go out and leave this comment on someone else's page! They don't have to be an amazingly talented person you idolize; in fact, I could even challenge you to choose a random deviant and tell them how their stuff makes the world more interesting. C'mon guys, every artist in the world deserves to be shown how much better of a place this world is because of their unique outlook on life... Just think, this world wouldn't be the same if just one of these unknown deviants weren't here, so go show your appreciation! :D

I usually don't have such well-crafted and long winded comments on deviants I don't know, but I do make it a habit to go around and tell people how awesome their art is. I just like to let people know they are appreciated, even if they are just starting out/still learning!
