[Violent]: When it comes to exorcists, vampires, werewolves, and even fellow shapeshifters, Cohen is very aggressive, and this quite often leads him to commit acts of violence against them without thinking anything of it. Over the years, his families have been commonly ravaged by the supernatural forces of Louisiana, and over time he's developed a hatred for all of them as a whole. In his eyes, everyone is guilty by association, and if one vampire leaves a bad first impression, he naturally equates it to all vampires being terrible. This doesn't mean that he's uncontrollable around them, but it doesn't take a lot to get on his bad side if you're not a human.

[Untrusting]: Also a result of several periods of hard times in his past, Cohen finds it difficult to fully trust anyone he comes across, and he won't trust you to give him the right time unless you give him a specific reason to. Because of this, he takes everything into his own hands, sometimes to very intense measures; for example, he doesn't trust anyone to make his food (besides his family), and he only can be taken to a hospital for wounds or illness after he puts up a brutal fight. Very rarely he'll come across someone that he feels deserves his trust from the get-go...but these people have his undying devotion.

[Touchy-Feely]: If he likes you enough to hang out with you, you'll often find yourself pushing him away from you. Almost to the extent of being clingy, he loves touching and being touched (and stop being immature, you perverts xD); he likes to hold hands, hug, and sit really close to others, most likely as an effect of his dog-like behaviour. He also has a tendency to cuddle, and he's much more likely to want to just sit and hold a girl for a long time instead of having sexual intercourse.

[Protective]: Especially of the Cohen family. If anyone comes close to hurting them or even talking poorly about them in a casual remark, he'll fly into a rage, and you better hope there's a policeman or something nearby or else it's most likely curtains for you. He can also get this way about other people that aren't related to the Cohens, but not nearly to the same extremes, even though the people on his good side have got his security no matter what happens.

[Curious]: As most dogs tend to be, he loves being in the center of what's going on, and when something new shows up he's likely to be the first to check it out. He's like this with objects and situations as well as with people, and this is often where his first impressions come from; it's a dangerous trait occasionally, as he also has this curiosity with weaponry and other potentially-fatal situations. But, also like a dog, he doesn't take hints very well, so he often has to be reminded to keep his hands to himself.

[Cruel]: Even though he's very kind to the Cohens and people he trusts, adversely, he has the tendency to be very brutal at times. He shows no mercy when critiquing someone, and when encountering a supernatural creature, he can be very sinister...especially when fighting. He doesn't aim to kill; he aims to injure, and keeps striking at their tiny weaknesses before watching them slowly bleed to death.

// HISTORY //

Over the long amount of time that Cohen has been alive, he's been a nameless wanderer. He was born to two shifters, a nobleman and his family's maid... as the relationship was strictly forbidden because of differences in the hierarchy, it was agreed by the secret lovers that as soon as their illegitimate child was old enough to drink his own milk, the nobleman would take him in and keep him under the guise of the family dog. Of course, shifting into a human was needed for development, and whenever the two were alone, his father would let him turn into a child and get used to his legs...but for the most part, he was known as a dog, and when his family had had him for several years and a normal dog would pass away, the then-teenage Cohen bid his parents adieu and left to strike out on his own. Thus his history was born along with his life of nomad-like traveling.
It continued like this for quite some time. He lived on the outskirts of towns, only going into town in his dog form. Eventually, he would be taken in by a family as a pet, given a new name, and grow attached as man's best friend...and whenever the time would come that a normal dog would be gone, he'd disappear without a trace to move on to a new home. He would travel to a new town, repeating the process in order to live with shelter and provided food; occasionally he'd simply pass through a town as a human to give himself a rest, but this never lasted for long, and it was only a few days before he returned to his normal schedule. Over the years, he had many different kinds of families; huge families, bachelors, widows, old couples, kind families, abusive drunks. Each time he grew intensely attached to them, even though he knew he would have to move on soon...but this never seemed to affect his mood, and he lived on as a loyal, intelligent friend who was fallen in love with many times. Sometimes he'd shed a tear when the time came to move, but he remained positive with the hope that his next family would be even better.
Many long years passed, hundreds of more families came and went before he found the Cohens in the Louisiana countryside. He had been passing through on a travel route to an unknown destination when he heard the sound of an infant crying...after searching for the source, he found a tiny little girl and her father out in the wilderness. The man had suffered some sort of fall, and an injury to the head; as he lay unconscious, his young, perhaps months-old daughter was crying beside him out of hunger or discomfort. He felt no sort of pity for them, but found that he couldn't just walk away and leave them both to suffer...he soon caught himself helping them, tugging on the man's shirt and barking to get someone's attention while trying to comfort the baby beside him. Eventually, a nearby farmer heard the racket and came to investigate, seeing the dog standing protectively near the two helpless humans. The farmer helped the man and his daughter to get back to their home in the country, with the unnamed shifter following behind them. Upon hearing the story of the dog and how he alerted someone for help, he was immediately adoped into the family and given the name Shadrack. At first the shifter had been reluctant to spend any time with the family, only sticking around because they gave him food, water, and a place to stay...but it wasn't long before he had fallen in love with the Cohens, especially the father and daughter he'd helped save, and he now lives with them happily as the family pet. He knows that the day will inevitably come when he has to tell them about his shifter blood, but until then, he'll remain living his human life in secret, using times away from the family to exact revenge on the supernatural forces for his friends in the past.
